The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
Everything will be provided for.
He makes me lie down in green pastures...
Not just anywhere!
...He leads me beside quiet waters...
Not raging waters...
He refreshes my soul.
Not my former less-wild lovers.
He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake.
Not my name's sake; for His glory!
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil...
I won't let fear in.
...for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.
You make me complete in Your love.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You flaunt me in front of my accusers and avenge me.
You anoint my head with oil;
You beautify me in the eyes of others...
my cup overflows.
You permeate my very being and drown my soul in gratitude.
Surely your goodness and love will follow - chase! - me
all the days of my life...
I will never be abandoned.
...and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
